Selina Zhang "Free from Fear" Bandana
Flowers grow back, even after the harshest winters.
From the Artist: "This design is inspired by the vitality in a seed breaking through the soil, which I belive is a symbol of the path to freedom. In Biology, I remember we had an long term experiment, the teacher gave us each a rose seed, we needed to soak it in water and covered with gauze. Then wait until there was a tiny root growing on the end of the seed. After, we put the seed into the soil and when it grows into a seedling, I saw a small lump rising from the soil, a tiny life struggling to break free.
The experiment inspired me. The seed is like a human, even though we are sometimes living in a tough environment, we have the urge to break out of it and find our freedom. Thus, I used the rose as a symbol in my design. There are also broken chains and thorns which stand for freedom from fear, and the elements attempting to hold one back."
