The dandelion, el diente de leon, thrives just as much in a wide meadow as it does in city sidewalk cracks. Its parachute-like seeds can travel for many miles going where the wind goes and taking root in distant places.

Often ignored or dismissed as a weed, dandelions are survivors that bring benefits wherever they grow. Chinese, Arabic, and European cultures have long used them for their medicinal properties. Their young green leaves are delicious and nutritious.

Dandelions transform the environment around them, so more delicate plants can grow. They supply nutrients to a wide array of species, and provide bees with nectar during the times when other plants cannot.

What if we were all like dandelions, sharing our energy with our communities and nourishing the world?

Our dandelion bandana is inspired by the courage and adaptability of our TPS neighbors and friends from Afghanistan, Burma, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, Lebanon, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen and El Salvador.

Artist Statement/Bio: Hana Golden is an LA-based illustrator and sequential artist who seeks to create images as a means of exploring drawing as an alchemical process (and to keep her idle hands busy).

Through her florid botanical illustrations, Hana endeavors to capture the beauty of the LA basin chaparral and the stewards of this land, both old and new!
